Purdue Homecoming 2025 brought Boilermakers together for an unforgettable weekend filled with spirit, pride and tradition. From the homecoming parade marching through campus to the excitement of game day, alumni and fans reunited to relive memories and make new ones. The weekend’s festivities filled every corner of campus — including the lively Boilermaker Boulevard, the exciting “Victories & Heroes” event and the roar of Ross-Ade Stadium as Purdue took on Rutgers.
On Friday (Oct. 24), thousands of members of the Purdue community flocked to Mackey Arena to attend a Celebration of Victories and Heroes, a showcase for both Homecoming 2025 and “Victories & Heroes: Your Campaign for Purdue.” During the event, plans were announced for the Victories & Heroes Plaza, a revitalization of the historic Purdue Mall that will create a vibrant crossroads showcasing the impact of philanthropy.
Purdue University, Purdue Research Foundation and the Archaeological Legacy Institute announced today that the Taraia Object Expedition, a joint mission to locate Amelia Earhart’s lost aircraft in a lagoon of Nikumaroro Island, has been postponed to 2026. The decision comes as the team awaits additional clearance from the government of Kiribati and as seasonal weather challenges kick in over the Pacific Ocean during winter months. Purdue ranked No. 8 in the U.S. and best in the Big Ten among the nation’s top 100 universities in the Manhattan Institute’s inaugural City Journal 2025 College Rankings, which examined the school’s qualities ranging from learning and research to free speech and student success postgraduation.
Dave Ricks, chair and CEO of Eli Lilly and Company and member of Purdue’s Board of Trustees, was honored as Chief Executive magazine’s 2025 CEO of the Year at a celebration event on Wednesday (Oct. 22) in New York City. On Oct. 20, the Birck Nanotechnology Center celebrated its 20th anniversary with panel discussions that both celebrated the past and looked into the future of its research. The event, featuring Purdue faculty, university leadership and semiconductor industry leaders, marked two decades since the university’s innovative investment in the facility — a decision that has established Purdue as a world leader in semiconductor and microelectronics research.
