The Global Nuclear Energy Economic Summit, a landmark event hosted in partnership with the state of Indiana and Purdue’s College of Engineering convened top leaders in energy, industry and public policy to shape the future of nuclear power in Indiana and beyond. The two-day summit (Nov. 5-6) in West Lafayette focused on breakthrough technologies for small modular reactors, including advanced nuclear manufacturing and technology integration, nuclear energy solutions for AI’s energy demands, civil infrastructure and site construction, financing and regulatory assurance, and workforce development.
“Lowell Hardin: Mentor Extraordinaire” shares the lessons and stories of Lowell Stewart Hardin, an Indiana farm boy whose work as an international agriculturalist made a global impact on poverty and hunger. Edited by Larry Murdock, Distinguished Professor emeritus of entomology; Thomas Hertel, Distinguished Professor of agricultural economics; and Gebisa Ejeta, Distinguished Professor of plant breeding and genetics and international agriculture, this collection offers a personal look at the man who helped shape modern international agriculture.
There is one day left for faculty to register to attend the Nov. 11 Westwood Lecture. Michelle Thompson, associate professor of earth, atmospheric and planetary sciences, will present “A Time Machine to the Early Solar System: Analyzing Samples from Asteroid Bennu Returned by the NASA OSIRIS-REx Mission” from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 11) at Westwood, the Purdue president’s residence.
In a tribute to those who have bravely served our nation, Purdue will host its annual Veterans Day events, including a Veterans Day ceremony and the Field of Flags display. Organized by the Dorothy Stratton Veteran and Military Success Center, these events provide the community with opportunities to honor veterans and military service members.
