Mitch Daniels to serve as Purdue interim president
The Board of Trustees at a public session on Monday (May 25) voted to approve the appointment of Mitch Daniels to serve as interim president of Purdue, effective July 1. Daniels, Purdue president emeritus and chair of the board of the Purdue Research Foundation, served for 10 years as Purdue’s president (2013-2022). He succeeds Mung Chiang, who will become president of Northwestern University on July 1.

Distinguished Professor Santokh Badesha appointed as President’s Fellow
Santokh Badesha, Distinguished Professor in the Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been appointed as a President’s Fellow in recognition of his professional accomplishments in idea generation, management and protection of intellectual property. Badesha will leverage his expertise to support Purdue Innovates’ mission of translating Purdue discoveries into real-world impact.

West Lafayette is Indiana’s top college town, according to WalletHub/Business Insider, which evaluated 415 U.S. cities on 30-plus metrics — including affordability, social environment, and academic and economic opportunity. Its analysis showed that West Lafayette is No. 1 in our state, No. 4 among all small-city college towns and No. 25 overall.

Purdue community celebrates Spring Fling
On May 21, faculty, staff, graduate student staff and retirees gathered on and around Memorial Mall to take part in Spring Fling, Purdue’s annual employee appreciation event. Activities included karaoke, bingo, yard games, a classic vehicle show, the 3-mile Your Path fitness walk and a golf outing.

Microsoft Multi-Factor Authentication to replace Duo Mobile on Friday
On Friday (May 29), Purdue will adopt Microsoft Multi-Factor Authentication for all university accounts systemwide. This will simplify the authentication process and eliminate the need for Duo Mobile for the West Lafayette and Indianapolis locations as well as Purdue Northwest and Purdue Fort Wayne. Note: Some Purdue Global applications such as OneLogin, Purdue Global email, etc., will continue using Duo Mobile to authenticate.
