Purdue and Cook Medical have launched a five-year research and collaboration agreement to advance innovative medical technologies. Building on a partnership of more than 50 years, the initiative expands Purdue’s research capabilities, strengthens the biomedical engineering workforce pipeline, and establishes a formal framework for projects in image-guided procedures and advanced medical device manufacturing.
Frederick Whitford, clinical engagement professor of botany and plant pathology and director of Purdue Pesticide Programs, has written “Pesticide and Nutrient Management: Application-Based Problem Solving in Agriculture.” This two-volume set bridges the gap between theory and field practice by offering practical guidance on everything from pesticide storage and spray drones to vehicle safety and emergency response.
Gebisa Ejeta, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Agronomy and a world‑renowned plant geneticist whose patented sorghum hybrids have helped save millions from starvation, has been inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame Class of 2026. The honor, presented in Washington, D.C., recognizes his transformative global impact and decades of innovation in partnership with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Father-and-son duo Wade and Alex Johnson both graduated from Purdue with master’s in interdisciplinary engineering without ever stepping foot on campus – albeit 30 years apart. Wade completed his degree via distance learning in the 1990s, and Alex completed his degree online in the 2020s. Though the way they earned their degrees was different, they both feel permanently bonded by the shared experience of being Boilermakers.
Along with providing 24/7 emergency services, the Purdue University Police Department offers outreach programs and other safety services like verbal de-escalation training, active threat training, electronic device registration and the Safe Walk program.
