Global collaboration on provitamin A reaps reward
When Torbert Rocheford, the Dr. Fred L. Patterson Endowed Chair in Translational Genomics for Crop Improvement at Purdue, and Abebe Menkir, maize breeder and geneticist, walked dusty rows of maize trials together in 2003, it would have been hard for them to imagine the impact that meeting would have across continents. Their 22-year collaboration has produced major advances in nutrient-enriched corn in sub-Saharan Africa, developing new varieties biofortified with provitamin A.

The Focus Awards are presented annually to acknowledge and celebrate the outstanding efforts of members of the Purdue community who advance the university’s commitment to disability accessibility. This year, the Office for Civil Rights honored several individuals and an organization with Focus Awards for their contributions to raising awareness and advancing equal access to education, employment and recreation for individuals with disabilities.

Purdue’s Center for Education and Research in Information Assurance and Security will gather thought leaders, innovators and practitioners dedicated to shaping the future of cybersecurity at the 27th Annual Cybersecurity Symposium April 7-8. This year’s theme is “Cyber + X,” with “X” representing the various physical domains that now routinely have a cyber component.
