Written by Distinguished Professor of Philosophy and Literature Arkady Plotnitsky, “Logos and Alogon: Thinkable and the Unthinkable in Mathematics, from the Pythagoreans to the Moderns” is a philosophical study of mathematics. In the book, Plotnitsky relates the mathematical thinking and practice of modern mathematics and traces these aspects back to earlier periods, beginning with the ancient Greek mathematics. Researchers in the College of Science have developed a patent-pending compound called HSN748 to treat drug-resistant acute myeloid leukemia. AML is a cancer that begins in bone marrow and sometimes metastasizes to the central nervous system, liver, lymph nodes, spleen and testicles.
The Campus Support Staff Advisory Committee presented its 2024 CSSAC Excellence Awards to Carol Rosenberger and Norvin Bruns during a May ceremony. Harmeyer scores 15 straight wins on ‘Jeopardy!’
Purdue’s Adriana Harmeyer, clinical assistant professor and archivist for university history, ended her run on “Jeopardy!” Wednesday (June 19) with 15 straight wins and total winnings amounting to $351,600. Harmeyer’s win streak is the 11th longest in “Jeopardy!” history, and she will return to play in the show's Tournament of Champions. Related: WTHR story on Harmeyer
