Digital forestry
Digital forestry can help mitigate and prevent wildfires
Technology can play a critical role in extinguishing the threat of wildfires, according to researchers at Purdue’s Institute for Digital Forestry. Using digital forestry, researchers can identify the areas of highest risk that affect large populations and valuable infrastructure. Purdue’s efforts include developing innovative remote sensing technology, from drone to satellite, to determine the probability and magnitude of wildfires at a given location.

The Electronic Research Administration (eRA) team within Sponsored Program Services finds solutions to technical issues to support researchers across Purdue. The eRA team is the initial point of contact for any electronic research administration-related grant and agreement, regulatory and compliance issues, or for any questions that arise. Team members’ timely and effective assistance means that staff and researchers can quickly resume work without being disrupted for an extended period.

Peroulis, Woo named chairs of 2024 Purdue United Way campaign
Following a successful 2023 Purdue United Way campaign, Purdue University has selected Dimitrios Peroulis and Sang Eun Woo to lead the 2024 effort as chair and vice chair. Purdue United Way leaders and volunteers look forward to continuing the momentum from last year’s campaign, which surpassed its $700,000 goal, increased the number of donors and established the largest local campaign for employee giving.
