David Simchi-Levi, a premier thought leader in supply chain management and business analytics, is joining Purdue to teach in the Mitch Daniels School of Business’ Supply Chain and Operations Management Department and in the College of Engineering’s Edwardson School of Industrial Engineering. Simchi-Levi comes to West Lafayette from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he held the MIT William Barton Rogers Professorship, was a professor of engineering systems and served as head of the MIT Data Science Lab. He joins Purdue through the university’s Moveable Dream Hires program.
Growing up in India, Lavanya Reddivari's mother remedied colds with warm milk with turmeric and black pepper. Reddivari, an associate professor of food science at Purdue, now studies how food may be used as medicine and can be modified to help patients with digestive diseases.
Purdue President Mung Chiang has announced the spring lineup for the Westwood Lecture Series, which provides an opportunity for university faculty to interact with colleagues on scholarly work from a wide range of fields. Each lecture will take place from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at Westwood, the Purdue president’s residence. Space is limited to the first 50 faculty who register online, unless otherwise noted. Registration will be available beginning two weeks prior to each lecture.

When registration opened for Pivio NOW, an on-demand, plant-based lifestyle intervention program offered by Purdue’s Center for Healthy Living in conjunction with the Lifestyle Medicine Institute, Starks signed up. Pivio NOW is a 12-week, self-paced, self-guided program designed to help individuals make positive changes to their lifestyles through education, practical experience and reinforcement.
