Four teams of Purdue students won a combined $5,500 from Purdue Innovates Incubator during the finals of the Moonshot Pitch Challenge, a semiannual ideation-focused competition. Fifteen finalist teams had two minutes to pitch their solutions to judges. Winning teams ideated solutions that address challenges to building safety, interactive devices, oyster farming and space travel.
Purdue has grown a thriving forest of more than 2,000 geographic information systems (GIS) users across campus. The largest numbers come from the colleges of Agriculture, Engineering, Liberal Arts and Science. GIS and the Institute for Digital Forestry, among other Purdue academic disciplines, have grown together like trees with intertwined canopies. GIS enables users to create, manage, analyze and map data in fields such as the humanities; civil engineering; political science; and earth, atmospheric and planetary sciences.
The musical comedy featuring everyone’s favorite Scottish nanny is coming to Purdue’s Elliott Hall of Music. “Mrs. Doubtfire,” based on the beloved film, is the hysterical and heartfelt story of an out-of-work actor who will do anything for his kids. Purdue will welcome Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, director of the National Institutes of Health, for a fireside chat today (Feb. 18) presented in conjunction with the university’s yearlong America250 celebration. Christopher Yeomans, the Justin S. Morrill Dean of Purdue’s College of Liberal Arts, will moderate.
Purdue Athletics has announced the release of the Boilermaker Legends Collection, featuring jerseys and other apparel for Purdue men’s basketball legends, including recent legends Caleb Swanigan, Carsen Edwards, JaJuan Johnson, Glenn Robinson and more. Fans can purchase replica versions of the jerseys that each of the legends wore during their time at Purdue.
