On Saturday (Feb. 14), Purdue University President Mung Chiang announced a $25 million commitment from the Dean and Barbara White Family Foundation to the university and “Victories & Heroes: Your Campaign for Purdue.” The gift will support three of the university’s strategic initiatives: Purdue’s comprehensive urban expansion in Indianapolis, $10.2 million; One Health, $1.9 million; and the Mitch Daniels School of Business, $12.9 million.
Purdue on Wednesday (Feb. 18) will welcome Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, director of the National Institutes of Health, for a fireside chat presented in conjunction with the university’s yearlong America250 celebration. Christopher Yeomans, the Justin S. Morrill Dean of Purdue’s College of Liberal Arts, will moderate the talk with Bhattacharya, who took the helm as 18th director of the federal agency in April. Titled “Liberty as an Engine for Science,” the discussion is at 2-2:50 p.m. Wednesday in Stewart Center’s Fowler Hall. The talk is free and open to the public.

President Chiang thanks Purdue Grounds team for snow removal efforts
President Mung Chiang recently joined the Purdue Grounds crew to thank team members for their work keeping campus lots, sidewalks and streets clear and safe this winter. During a recent snowstorm, the crew logged approximately 1,115 person-hours, clearing 10 million cubic feet of snow across 200 acres of lots, 120 miles of sidewalks and 47 lane miles of streets. The visit was an opportunity to express appreciation for the Purdue Grounds team and their excellence at scale.
