In “Kant’s Metaphysics of the Will,” professor of philosophy Jacqueline Mariña offers a comprehensive defense of Kant’s vision of the autonomous moral agent, arguing that his ethical and metaethical claims are deeply intertwined with the broader project of his critical philosophy. Mariña counters recent criticisms by showing that Kant successfully demonstrates why rational beings are necessarily bound by the moral law.
Emerald Publishing and Purdue have announced the launch of a new co-branded book series. Aligned with both organizations’ shared mission to advance research that delivers meaningful real‑world change, the Emerald-Purdue Research Impact Series will spotlight cutting‑edge scholarship across multiple disciplines. Each book will be authored by at least one Purdue faculty member, with many titles drawing on the university’s most successful and influential recent doctoral research.
