Purdue’s College of Engineering jumped to No. 4 overall, and three engineering disciplines retained their standing in the top 5 nationally while eight programs were among the top 10 in the U.S.

The Purdue Research Foundation continues to highlight National Academy of Inventors fellows at Purdue whose collaborative, multidisciplinary research has translated into real-world technologies that benefit society. This week's fellow is Masanobu Yamamoto, adjunct professor of basic medical sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine. Yamamoto holds nearly 100 U.S. and more than 200 Japanese patents, many related to technologies developed for the electronic gaming and disc storage industries during his career at Sony.
“The Routledge Handbook of Communication and Social Cognition” examines how the ways people think shape communication — and how communication, in turn, forms how people think about the social world. This volume, co-edited by Torsten Reimer, professor and director of the College of Liberal Arts Research Academy, explores how cognitive mechanisms such as perception, emotion, stereotypes and framing shape how messages are produced, interpreted and shared across interpersonal, group and mediated contexts.
Students in Purdue’s School of Aviation and Transportation Technology will host the annual Purdue Aviation Day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday (April 11) at the Purdue University Airport. This free, student-organized event invites the Greater Lafayette community and aviation enthusiasts nationwide to celebrate the past, present and future of aviation.
Purdue staffer Phillip Fiorini views his Type 2 diabetes as an asset — a chance to learn more about the chronic disease and its effects through opportunities like the Center for Healthy Living’s “Taking Control of My Diabetes” program. The nine-week virtual course helps participants better understand the intricacies of Type 2 diabetes and prediabetes. Registration for the next session is open through May 11.
