Purdue marked its 13th Day of Giving on Wednesday (April 29), building upon its powerful philanthropic momentum. Boilermakers’ collective generosity resulted in $95.5 million through 34,454 gifts during the 24-hour online, social media-driven fundraising effort — bringing Purdue Day of Giving’s cumulative total since its launch in 2014 to $697.6 million.

Purdue dedicates 160-foot-tall flagpole at Ross-Ade Stadium in honor of America’s 250th anniversary
President Mung Chiang and Board of Trustees Chairman Gary Lehman on Wednesday (April 29) unveiled a new, 160-foot-tall flagpole
at Ross-Ade Stadium, among the tallest flagpoles at any college stadium in the country, during Stadium Nights, which brought together students, faculty, staff and the local community. Chiang highlighted the university’s contributions to the United States and was joined onstage by current and former Purdue trustees, former Purdue Presidents Mitch Daniels and Martin Jischke, Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski, and Purdue ROTC members.
“The Handbook of Communication in Africa: Theory, Research, and Praxis” maps the field of communication studies as it relates specifically to African societies. Co-edited by Stacey Connaughton, professor of communication and director of the Purdue Policy Research Institute, the text brings together multiple researchers to examine how communication theory, research and real-world practice intersect across Africa.
