Boilermakers of all ages are invited to Stadium Nights — a Purdue celebration under the lights of Ross-Ade Stadium. This free event is open to the public and will take place from 6-9:30 tonight. The first portion of the evening will include a showing of the movie “First Man” on the jumbotron. The excitement will continue with President Mung Chiang and special guests honoring America’s 250th birthday and the university’s contributions to our nation’s history. The event will conclude with fireworks.
Purdue Research Foundation continues to highlight National Academy of Inventors fellows at Purdue whose collaborative, multidisciplinary research is translated into real-world technologies that benefit society. This week's fellow is Ernesto E. Marinero, College of Engineering professor of materials engineering and electrical and computer engineering. Marinero’s work focuses on nanomaterials and devices for applications in low-power, ultrafast magnetic-based computational hardware and the development of future high-capacity and performance solid-state batteries for transportation electrification.
Purdue President Mung Chiang has been named the Indiana tech sector’s 2026 Trailblazer for building a pipeline of talent and positioning Indiana as a global leader driving the AI, hard tech and health economies. Three Purdue-led or supported startups or initiatives also won 2026 Mira Awards at TechPoint’s gala — Purdue Innovates, Innovation Service Partner of the Year; Purdue’s West Lafayette and Indianapolis locations, Ascend Indiana Talent Innovation Award; and FiberX, AgriNovus Indiana AgBioscience Innovation Award.

Special issue update
The Purdue Today special issue highlighting this year’s teaching award recipients, originally planned for Tuesday (April 28), will be shared at a later date. We appreciate your patience as we finalize plans to recognize these outstanding educators.
During the Purdue 1 suborbital spaceflight, Purdue aerospace engineering professor Steven Collicott will have limited time to sightsee. The all-Boilermaker crew will experience microgravity for only a few minutes, and he’ll spend most of that time conducting NASA-sponsored research. It’s an unusual dilemma, but the veteran professor feels a responsibility to succeed so other researchers can follow in his footsteps.
