As part of its yearlong U.S. 250th birthday commemoration, Purdue will dedicate a 16-story flagpole at Ross-Ade Stadium on Wednesday (April 29) during Purdue Day of Giving. Standing 160 feet above the field and flying a 30-by-50-foot American flag, the pole was generously gifted by former Board of Trustees Chair Michael Berghoff and his wife, Kristin; and alumnus John Chiminski and his wife, Laura.
A Purdue professor and graduate student participated in the NASA Science Showcase recently on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. The April 21 event highlighted how NASA-funded science research across disciplines strengthens America’s leadership and fuels the broader space program. The Purdue team shared examples of Purdue’s contributions to NASA’s work with congressional staffers.
Six members of the Purdue community were honored at the 2026 Walk the Talk Award reception April 13. The award is presented annually to those who demonstrate commitment to the principles outlined in the university’s Statement of Integrity and Code of Conduct.

Special issue to highlight Purdue teaching award winners
Every spring Purdue honors instructors who go above and beyond to provide exceptional educational experiences. The 2026 winners were surprised in their classrooms in March, receiving one of three honors: the Charles B. Murphy Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award, the Exceptional Early Career Teaching Award or the Excellence in Instruction Award for Lecturers. A Purdue Today special issue coming today (April 28) will highlight the winners.
The Excalibur Racing 42 team with driver Carson Bowers took the checkered flag in the 69th annual Purdue Grand Prix on Saturday (April 25). The team’s victory came after Bowers broke the Purdue Grand Prix Track record, setting a lap time of 24.616 seconds at qualifications.

But one moniker for Moriah Polar is universal: “Great.” The Purdue junior outfielder is in the midst of a season the likes of which has never been seen for a 30-something-year-old softball program, which is a reason why the Boilermakers are enjoying one of their best seasons.
