A veteran commercial astronaut and a College of Science alum were announced as the final two crew members for the Purdue 1 all-Boilermaker suborbital flight slated for next year with Virgin Galactic.
“The Islands and the Stars: A History of Japan’s Space Programs” is a historical study of Japan’s space program and its place in the broader story of science, technology and modern Japanese society. Written by Subodhana Wijeyeratne, assistant professor of history, the book traces the development of Japan’s space efforts from early rocket experiments in the 1920s through the country’s postwar technological rise and the creation of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency in 2003.
Purdue’s theatre program will present “Our Town,” Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, from April 16-26, offering audiences a reflective look at love and loss.
Phillip J. VanFossen arrived at Purdue as an assistant professor of education nearly three decades ago. The longtime administrator and teacher is now Purdue’s next Suzi and Dale Gallagher Dean of the College of Education. VanFossen, the director and James F. Ackerman Distinguished Professor of Social Studies Education at Purdue, has served as interim dean of the College of Education since June 2022.
Purdue’s Córdova Recreational Sports Center will serve as a primary election early voting site from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday (April 21) and as a primary Election Day voting site from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 5.
