Purdue researchers unite to pioneer ‘living’ neuroelectronics; paper published in Science
When used to treat neurological issues like epilepsy and Parkinson’s disease, conventional electrodes drift and cause scarring while implanted in the brain. Purdue scientists and engineers have created a novel polymer that could lead to a stage where “living” electronics are formed inside the brain without invasive surgery.

There is still time to register for Purdue Women’s Conference 2026, which draws women looking to motivate, uplift and connect within a supportive community of Purdue alumnae and friends. All employees of Purdue University, the Purdue Research Foundation, the Purdue for Life Foundation and Purdue Global — as well as all Purdue students — can save $50 when they register for the conference, which will be held June 24 and 25 in Indianapolis.
