New University-wide awards launched during International Education Week

On the occasion of International Education Week, Purdue's Office of Corporate and Global Partnerships and Purdue’s Global Academic Committee are announcing the inaugural Outstanding Leadership in Globalization Awards. These university-level awards, to be given annually, will recognize one faculty and one staff member for their dedicated efforts to increase Purdue’s global recognition as a leader in higher education.

Globalization in this context is defined as developing, facilitating and maintaining programs and activities in partnership with universities, agencies and private-sector constituents outside the United States. Specifically, the awards recognize endeavours that involve faculty and/or students from Purdue and international counterparts in learning, discovery and/or engagement.

OCGP and the GAC are seeking faculty and staff nominations for the Outstanding Leadership in Globalization Awards for impact relevant to any or all of the academic mission categories of learning, discovery and engagement. This award is open to all categories of full-time University faculty and staff members.

Following the existing college procedures for administering faculty and staff awards, each college may submit up to three nominations for each award (i.e., three for faculty and three for staff) by Feb. 15. OCGP will collect and submit up to three at-large nominations for both faculty and staff not associated with a particular college.

These new awards were created to further reinforce the importance of the global outreach undertaken by Purdue faculty and staff. The new awards demonstrate the institution’s commitment to the Purdue Moves initiatives of promoting world-changing research and transformative education, for the benefit of the entire Purdue community of faculty, staff and students as well as our stakeholders abroad.

International Education Week, held Nov. 12-16, celebrates the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of efforts to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences.
