Purdue, Indiana Sports Corp and USA Swimming to present USA Swimming LIVE during U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming in Indianapolis
Old gold and black will be among the red, white and blue this June as Indianapolis hosts the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming for the first time since 2000. Purdue University is partnering with Indiana Sports Corp and USA Swimming to present USA Swimming LIVE, a nine-day outdoor fan fest and tailgate hub during the trials from June 15-23.

From childhood racing fanatic to IndyCar engineer
Lizzie Todd fell in love with IndyCar racing as an 8-year-old attending the Carb Day practice session ahead of the 2006 Indianapolis 500. The motorsports engineering alumna turned that childhood passion into a career, as she now works as a systems engineer for driver Pato O’Ward and the Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team as they gear up for “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” later this month.

AP Video — Mother’s Day: Supporting new moms in the workplace
Allison Gabriel, the Thomas J. Howatt Chair in Management in the Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr. School of Business at Purdue University, explains how new mothers returning to the workplace should be treated and what employers can do to support them. One of the biggest fears women have when coming back from maternity leave is being treated like they are a problem for being away. Gabriel says it is important for women to feel support from their work before, during and after leave.

Purdue pharmacy researcher receives $2.4M NIH grant to fight antimicrobial-resistant lung infections
Qi “Tony” Zhou, a researcher in Purdue University’s College of Pharmacy has received a $2.4 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to fight lung infections that have established a resistance to antimicrobial drugs. Zhou is an associate professor in the Department of Industrial and Molecular Pharmaceutics, a Faculty Scholar, and a faculty member of the Purdue Institute for Drug Discovery and the Purdue Institute of Inflammation, Immunology and Infectious Disease. He leads a team of multinational experts in developing novel, patent-pending inhalation therapeutics for lung infections.
