Purdue Global commencements celebrate graduates and their accomplishments

Purdue Global recently hosted three ceremonies at Purdue University’s West Lafayette, Indiana, campus. Learn how the Purdue Global community came together to celebrate the accomplishments of 1,533 graduates. Purdue Global is Purdue’s online university for working adults.

More than 1,500 Purdue Global graduates cap off college careers at commencement ceremonies

Purdue Global officials celebrated 1,533 graduates on May 4. The graduates, including 301 Indiana residents, represented all 50 states plus the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Twenty countries were represented as well, including Bangladesh, Bermuda, Canada, Greece, India, Mexico and the Philippines. There were 242 graduates affiliated with the military. Thirty-nine systemwide Purdue University employees were among those earning a Purdue Global degree or certificate via the Purdue Global education benefit.

Health care executive, Purdue Global Law School alumna encourages new grads to take opportunities, give back to others

Allyssa Spates knew early in her life she wanted a career that involved helping others in times of need.

Spates began volunteering for her local fire department in Connecticut while in high school. She went to college with the goal of earning a fire science degree, but she took one emergency management class that changed her life.

Spates lives near Hollis, Maine, and serves as vice president of emergency management at one of New England’s largest health care systems. She earned her Executive Juris Doctor from Purdue Global Law School (formerly Concord Law School at Purdue Global) in 2021. Spates delivered the keynote address at Purdue Global’s spring commencement ceremonies on May 4 at Purdue University’s Elliott Hall of Music in West Lafayette.

Indiana, Oregon residents converge at Purdue Global commencement to share their talents as national anthem singers

Tahanna Tucker of Merrillville, Indiana, and Klnisha Clark of Salem, Oregon, have a lot in common. Both are mothers. Both have worked while taking classes. Both have persevered to get to where they are today. Both sing in their churches’ music ministries. And both performed “The Star-Spangled Banner” at their respective Purdue Global commencement ceremonies on May 4.
