An edible QR code takes a shot at fake whiskey

Young Kim and Jungwoo Leem, of Purdue’s Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, are part of a global research team that has developed an edible QR code on a tag made of specialized silk that could help consumers detect fake whiskey – a step that could be not only a solution for the alcohol industry but also one that addresses fake medications.

Surprise $8.5 million estate gift will fund more than 40 years of cancer research

Thanks to an unexpected bequest of $8.5 million from fellow faculty member John Capaldi, Philip Low, Purdue’s Presidential Scholar for Drug Discovery and the Ralph C. Corley Distinguished Professor of Chemistry, has funding to support more than 40 years’ worth of cancer research.
