Appointments, honors and activities

Faculty and staff honors:

–  Kristina Bross, professor of English and associate dean for research and creative endeavors in the Honors College, has received the 2022 Leadership in Open Access Award from Purdue Libraries and School of Information Studies. The award recognizes her creativity, leadership, student engagement and ongoing commitment to open access projects.

–  Eva Haviarova, professor of wood products in the Department of Forestry and Natural Resources, was selected as a Women Ambassador from the Society of Wood Science and Technology (SWST). Haviarova was among 16 ambassadors announced on Feb. 11 as part of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science celebration. The Women Ambassadors Creating the Future of Wood Science is a traveling SWST-sponsored exhibition designed to celebrate women ambassadors over time.

– Purdue alumna Jennifer Rumsey (’96) has been appointed the new president and chief operating officer of Cummins Inc., effective March 1. During her time at Purdue, Rumsey studied mechanical engineering and was part of Purdue Society of Women Engineers. More information about Rumsey can be found here.
