Scheduling Standards (Configurations, Migrations, and Other)

Purpose:

This standard defines the process to ensure availability of Web Services Staff. The intent is to coordinate work between Web Services and other teams and departments at the University.

Brief Description:

Web Services strives to provide efficient, quality service to every customer we interact with including peer teams. In order to best serve the needs of our customers we have a request process that is designed to achieve efficiency, accuracy, increased quality of communication, and exceptional satisfaction upon task completion.

Details:

Minor Change Coordination Tasks To ensure staff availability Web Services requires a one week notice of time sensitive minor change coordination tasks. Minor change coordination tasks occur during standard support hours, involve a single support staff, and do not require a Change Request in ITaP Change Management. Some examples include:

  • Scheduled content migrations
  • Development database migrations
  • Redirects

Major Change Coordination Tasks To ensure staff availability Web Services requires a two week notice of time sensitive major change coordination tasks. Major change coordination tasks occur outside standard support hours, involve multiple ITaP support staff, require a Change Request in ITaP Change Management, and could possibly cause significant disruption to service. Some examples include:

  • Website relocations
  • Production database migrations
