A 6-day intensive program for graduate students and post-docs to work with CIE staff on designing courses they will teach at Purdue (May 29 - 31 and June 3 - 5).

2019 Summer Course Design Institute

Each institute day (9 am - 5 pm) will be divided into two large sessions, mixing activities and working time.

Topics covered will include: identifying situational factors, learning outcomes, assessment, learning activities, course alignment (outcomes, activities, and assessment), cognition/motivation, syllabi construction, scholarly teaching and the scholarship of teaching and learning, next steps, and career preparation.

After teaching the designed course, participants in the program will work on creating a portfolio that will document the course, it’s changes, their pedagogical process (e.g., how, what, and why they made the decisions they did), and student learning, as well as what they might do or change in the future.
