Register for IMPACT Data Science Education Forum April 28

The IMPACT Data Science Education Forum, April 28, is an event for West Lafayette faculty, staff, and students interested in teaching and learning about data science and data literacy in undergraduate courses. Registration is free for sessions during the Forum, which will be held 9 a.m.-2:50 p.m. via Zoom.

The day kicks off with a keynote by Mark Ward, professor of statistics and interim co-director for the Integrated Data Science Initiative, followed by remarks by Jenna Rickus, Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning. Throughout the morning, a series of eight Purdue instructors from various disciplines will share examples of data science or data literacy undergraduate student projects they created as participants in the IMPACT Data Science Education project in spring 2020.

In the afternoon, a panel will introduce campus resources that support teaching and learning about data. The day concludes with a discussion session on attendees’ interest and desired support for developing data-focused coursework in disciplinary undergraduate courses.

More information and the full agenda for the day may be found on the IMPACT Data Science Education Forum webpage.

The IMPACT Data Science Education Forum is hosted by Purdue Libraries and School of Information Studies, Instruction Matters: Purdue Academic Course Transformation (IMPACT), and the Data Science Consulting Service (DSCS), and is funded by the Integrative Data Science Initiative.
