Beginning Jan. 1, Purdue Libraries will serve as the primary library resource for all Purdue students, faculty and staff in Indianapolis, continuing to strengthen academic and research support. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Purdue\u2019s Student Center Library<\/a> in Indianapolis is the new hub for students, faculty and staff to pick up materials requested through online search. Items not held through Purdue Libraries\u2019 collection can be requested via interlibrary loan<\/a>. Housed inside the two-story, 25,000-square-foot facility, the library has a growing collection of books and materials available for checkout in person, including reserved items used in current courses, which have a two-hour checkout window. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Student Center Library began initial operations in fall 2025 and has been preparing for a full launch in spring 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All Purdue students, faculty and staff, regardless of location, have access to the staffed Ask a Librarian<\/a> helpline and subject-specialist librarians<\/a>\u202ffor research support and consultations. Boilermakers are encouraged to visit the Purdue Libraries website to explore all Libraries has to offer, including more than 700 databases, journals, e-books and streaming media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhile Purdue Libraries remains committed to maintaining a strong and collaborative relationship with our colleagues at IU Indianapolis, we encourage a thoughtful transition away from reliance on IU Indianapolis Libraries,\u201d said Ann O\u2019Donnell, assistant operations manager of the Student Center Library in Indianapolis, Purdue University Libraries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have Purdue students coming in and utilizing our space in the Student Center \u2014 which has been really wonderful,\u201d O\u2019Donnell said. \u201cThe computers have been getting quite a lot of usage.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Purdue faculty, staff and students can continue to reserve study rooms in the IUI University Library. Although they will no longer have borrowing privileges from IU Indianapolis Libraries with their Purdue Crimson Card, Purdue faculty, staff and students may contact IU Indianapolis Libraries to inquire about a visitor’s card.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
