Faculty and staff are invited to the Recorder Community Picnic
The Recorder Community Picnic, sponsored by the Indianapolis Recorder in collaboration with Purdue University, returns to historic Indiana Avenue on June 27. Bringing together families, friends and neighbors for a day of celebration, connection and culture, the event will feature live music, a DJ, family-friendly activities, community resources, special guests and local leaders.

‘Our own building’: Students tour Academic Success Building construction site
Five Purdue students donned hard hats, safety glasses and neon vests for a firsthand look at a project they had long watched from beyond the construction fencing: the Academic Success Building (ASB) rising alongside Michigan Street in downtown Indianapolis. Read more.
Jon Rienstra-Kiracofe inducted into Purdue University Teaching Academy for 2026
The Purdue University Teaching Academy has announced 11 inductees for 2026 — including Jon Rienstra-Kiracofe for chemistry — in recognition of their outstanding and scholarly teaching in graduate, undergraduate or engagement programs. Read more.
Polytechnic faculty and staff honored with Bravo Awards
Six faculty and staff based in Indianapolis were among those honored by Purdue Polytechnic Institute with a 2026 Bravo Award: Elizabeth Freije, Jason Guy, Corinne Renguette, Esra Tepeli, Sheila Walter and Paul Yearling. This university program allows each unit to recognize employees for substantial accomplishments that go beyond expectations.
