Welcome back. It's a new semester and a New Year. The Purdue Student Center Library has launched and the Campus Connect shuttles have traveled a lunar mile.  

We've got fresh opportunities to innovate, collaborate and make an impact in spring 2026. For our students, this first day of classes marks the start of new discoveries, academic growth and events and adventures that will become favorite memories. Upcoming engaging events for students include the Jan. 14 B-Involved Fair and the Feb. 17 Spring 2026 Engineering, Science & Tech Connect Career Fair.  

Be sure to mark your calendar for Jan. 23 for the Faculty and Staff Summit and RSVP by Jan. 14. Join me at the NCAA Hall of Champions Conference Center along with Michael B. Cline, chief operating officer, to learn about Purdue's long-term strategic plan for Indianapolis and exciting additions happening soon.

If you're based in Indianapolis, save the date for the Faculty and Staff Summit with David Umulis, senior vice provost and chief academic officer, and Michael B. Cline, chief operating officer for Indianapolis, to discuss academic successes, strategic priorities and the long-term vision for Purdue University in Indianapolis. Register for the event by 5 p.m. Jan. 14.

Family Weekend is a special time for Boilermaker families to engage with their students and experience Purdue University. We invite you to showcase your department, program or initiative by:
  • Hosting an event, demonstration, open house or fun activity from 1:30-4 p.m. Friday, April 17 (flexible timing)
  • Joining a family reception Friday in Indianapolis or Saturday in West Lafayette
Details will be shared with campus partners who indicate interest in the survey link. Submit your event details in the survey or email boilerfamily@purdue.edu to schedule a meeting and explore engagement options. Deadline: Jan. 30.

| NEWS AND OPPORTUNITIES
Purdue Libraries ready for launch in Indianapolis
 
Beginning Jan. 1, Purdue Libraries will serve as the primary library resource for all Purdue students, faculty and staff in Indianapolis, continuing to strengthen academic and research support.

Purdue’s Student Center Library in Indianapolis is the new hub for students, faculty and staff to pick up materials requested through online search. Items not held through Purdue Libraries’ collection can be requested via interlibrary loan. Housed inside the two-story, 25,000-square-foot facility, the library has a growing collection of books and materials available for checkout in person, including reserved items used in current courses, which have a two-hour checkout window. Purdue’s Campus Connect shuttle celebrates ‘moon milestone’
 
Long known for its enduring legacy in space exploration, Purdue University is celebrating a different kind of lunar milestone this week. On Monday (Jan. 12), Purdue’s Campus Connect shuttle will have officially “reached the moon” in total mileage traveled — an incredible 238,900 miles — since launching Aug. 12, 2024. Read more. 
 
Purdue's inaugural First-Year Career Networking Night
 
The Purdue Office of Professional Practice in Indianapolis hosted its inaugural First-Year Career Networking Night on Nov. 19, welcoming over 100 first-year students eager to explore their career pathways. The event brought together industry professionals, Purdue alumni, faculty and students for conversations that supported early professional development.

From the start, professionals and alumni enthusiastically shared insights, personal experiences and encouragement. Students asked thoughtful questions and built connections that will serve as foundational steps in their academic and professional journeys.

B-Involved Fair set for Jan. 14   
Students are invited to learn how to get involved in Indianapolis at the B-Involved Fair. Representatives from student organizations will be at the Campus Center (CE), Room 450 A from 3-6 p.m. Jan 14.
 

Spring 2026 Engineering, Science & Tech Connect Career Fair set for Feb. 17 in Indianapolis   
The Spring 2026 Engineering, Science, & Tech Connect: Purdue University in Indianapolis Career Fair will be held at the IU Indianapolis Campus Center Feb. 17 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. This is an opportunity for employers to recruit Purdue students for internships and full-time roles from specific Engineering, Polytechnic, Science and Business (Integrated Business and Engineering) majors located in Indianapolis. 
 

Motorsports engineering student featured in YouTube video   
As a full-time racing driver, Drew Szuch clinched the 2025 co-championship in the Ligier Junior Formula Championship — all while taking classes at Purdue University in Indianapolis.
