About Sarah

A data person! Data Governance - data does not just govern itself, you know.

Sarah Bauer has a long history of working with data - data analysis, system and process work as well as experience blending functional and technical expertise on software implementation projects. She has worked in various offices during her career at Purdue University, including being on loan to IT for extended periods to provide subject matter expertise. This includes spending two years implementing the reporting functions around Banner and Cognos. Upon her return, Bauer was a part of the Office of the President before being instrumental in forming the Business Intelligence Competency Center within IT.

Data governance, Bauer’s current role, is more about people and processes than it is about technology or software. It requires a blend of people and technical skills as well as knowledge of the culture of the institution. The implementation of Data Cookbook software has created a better understanding of administrative data, in an integrated manner.

Bauer has a MS degree in consumer behavior/marketing from Purdue University and a BS in psychology from the University of Evansville.
