\"Staff\"In the fall of 2015 a team of Purdue clinical and academic faculty led the effort to develop one of the first dedicated Swallowing Research Clinics in an academic Speech Language Pathology setting<\/i><\/b> (outside a medical setting), under the leadership\u00a0of Dr. Malandraki. The Purdue I-EaT Swallowing Research Clinic is a unique clinical and educational multidisciplinary collaboration between the Purdue Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences<\/a>, the Purdue I-EaT Swallowing Research Laboratory<\/a>, the M.D. Steer Speech and Language Clinic<\/a>, and the Purdue School of Nursing<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"LabAt this time, the Purdue I-EaT Clinic serves adult and pediatric patients with problems swallowing (also known as dysphagia) that may have occurred, for example, as a result of a stroke, traumatic brain injury, treatment for head and neck cancer, or because of disorders\/diseases such as Parkinson\u2019s disease, cerebral palsy, dementia, multiple sclerosis, etc. Our regular clinic faculty comprise of four certified Speech Language Pathologists specializing in dysphagia, an expert Otolaryngologist, a Registered Nurse (for a list of our faculty see the bottom of this page), and three radiology technicians. Consultations with dietitians and other medical professionals are also conducted regularly.<\/p>\n

The new clinic operates in partnership with the Purdue I-EaT Swallowing Research Lab and is the first academic clinic (outside a medical setting) in the US that features full scale swallowing evaluation and treatment capabilities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Our equipment includes a videofluoroscopic c-arm<\/strong> that allows\u00a0high quality real-time videofluoroscopic data acquisition, a \"\"Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) station<\/strong> and multiple endoscopes, electromyographic<\/strong> (EMG), and respiratory physiology biofeedback devices<\/strong>, oral manometers<\/strong>, and a plethora\u00a0of other treatment and oral feeding devices and materials.<\/p>\n

The Purdue I-EaT Clinic is in full operation offering diagnostic evaluations once a month and treatment sessions weekly. All sessions are conducted by our expert clinical and academic faculty and by qualified graduate clinicians under the direct guidance and supervision of our faculty. <\/p>\n
