Anthem continues dental provider recruitment, distributes new ID cards
Anthem dental cards for 2017 have been released and should arrive in employee homes over the next few days for those who enrolled in either the preventive dental or a buy up dental plan. Dental cards are separate from the Anthem medical cards and employees are asked to update their insurance information with their dental provider. All dental providers will need the identification information on the dental card (and will no longer use the Purdue ID number minus the first zero).
Recruiting efforts continue as Anthem works to expand the Dental Complete network. A summary of the latest recruitment efforts is available on the Benefits website. An additional eight providers have submitted applications and are working through the credentialing process since the last report from Anthem on Nov. 7.
As reflected on the recruiting summary, several more providers have indicated interest in joining the network. If you don’t see your dentist on the list and have not already nominated him or her, please feel free to do so.
To nominate your dentist to the Anthem Dental Complete Network, follow these steps:
- First, check to see if your dentist is already participating in the Anthem network: Log onto www.anthem.com and choose “Find a Doctor.” Select “Continue” under “Search as a Guest” then follow the prompts to see if your dentist is already in the “Dental Complete” network. If he or she is already participating, there is no need to nominate him or her.
- Secondly, if your dentist is not currently participating you can nominate him or her to Anthem, and an Anthem representative will reach out to the provider. Complete the Provider Nomination Form, then email or fax the form to Anthem as directed on the form.
The most current statewide Indiana directory of participating dentists can be found here. The highlighted box contains the Indiana directory as well as the most up-to-date recruiting document from Anthem. Keep in mind, it takes some time for providers to work through the credentialing and approval process (generally 45-60 days), so you may not see the new dentists in the directory right away, and they may not pull up when you search, until they have fully completed the process.
