Top 5 most helpful Benefit tools

Several benefit tools have been added over the last few years to help you take control of your physical and financial well-being. You can make the most out of the benefits available to you with the use of these resources:

1. Castlight Health

Did you know the cost for health care services can vary significantly from one doctor or facility to the next? For example, search results in Castlight show a tonsillectomy (surgical removal of tonsils) can range from $2,374 to $4,743 locally. Castlight helps you search for health care services and compare costs between in-network providers – before you make an appointment or have a service provided – so you can make the most of your health care dollars, helping both you individually and the overall health plan save money!  Saving money is not only good for you but also for your health plan by helping to keep medical costs in check.

Are you interested in how much you spent on past care for you and your family to help you predict your future expenses? Castlight can show you that, too. Dependents over the age of 18 who are covered under your plan have access to their own account and can view the same types of information to help guide their medical care.

You can also take your care on the go. Download the free Castlight mobile app to easily manage your care anytime, anywhere.  Call toll-free at 888-272-8572, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. to speak with a Castlight guide who can provide you the same services over the phone.

2. Center for Healthy Living

Scheduling a visit to the Center for Healthy Living has never been so easy. Of course you can call to make an appointment but did you know you can skip the phone call and schedule online through the Center for Healthy Living’s website portal? The Center for Healthy Living – Purdue’s on-site health facility for faculty and staff, provides preventive care services – wellness screenings, physicals, check-ups – and also treats your illnesses and chronic conditions.  In addition, the Center provides tobacco cessation programs, health coaching, nutrition support, medication management therapy and employee assistance - counseling services at no cost. If you are a first-time patient, you can access the patient questionnaire online allowing you to complete in advance and bring it to your first appointment.

For more information on services offered or to schedule an appointment through the portal, visit the Center for Healthy Living online.  For tips to boost your wellness and for news about events and program offerings, follow the Center for Healthy Living on Twitter.

The Center is open for appointments Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lab hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Center can be reached by phone during business hours at 49-40111. For assistance after hours or on weekends, please contact the Anthem nurse line at 888-279-5449 for assistance.

3. Express Scripts

Did you know you can price medications and order online through the Express Scripts website? By entering your drug name and dosing information, you will be able to see pricing and coverage information, including more cost-effective alternatives such as generic or plan-preferred options to help you stretch your healthcare dollars a little further.

Tired of picking up the same prescription at the pharmacy every 30 days? Save time and money by transferring long-term or chronic condition prescriptions to Express Scripts’ home delivery option where you can purchase up to a 90-day supply of most prescription medications at a lower cost than purchasing at a retail pharmacy – and the best part – it’s delivered right to your mailbox.

Express Scripts will also share “Health Alerts” to notify you to refill a prescription before you run out, if a refill has been missed or bring attention to any concerns with a medication. Call Express Scripts toll-free at 877-845-2795 to learn more about pricing prescriptions and home delivery. Go a step farther and download the Express Scripts mobile app.

Need extra assistance managing your medications? A full-time pharmacist at the Center for Healthy Living can review your medications with you, explain how they work, look to help you simplify your routine and even help you consider if there are less costly medications that might work equally well for you. She will help set a plan with you and your physician if there are changes that could be worthwhile for you.
