  • What to expect

  • Prescription pricing tool to use during open enrollment

  • CVS app

Dates to know:

  • Oct. 25 – Nov. 8: Open enrollment period for 2023 benefits

What to Expect

Prescription coverage ID number: You will have a new ID number for pharmacy claims in 2023. Your new number will be located on the UMR medical ID card. You will not have a separate Rx ID card. You may also find your ID number via the CVS app or by calling CVS Caremark member services. CVS Caremark will also notify pharmacies about changes to ID numbers.

No change to retail pharmacy network: CVS Caremark has the same network of pharmacies that are covered under the current plan.

Same formulary drug list: The formulary drug list is the same, however it is standard practice for formulary updates to be made on Jan. 1 each year. If there are any changes to the 2023 drug list that impact your medication, you will receive a letter directly from CVS Caremark with information regarding that change. The 2023 formulary drug list will be posted online once available.

Current prescriptions: If you have a prescription on file with your pharmacy on Jan. 1, 2023, then no action is required. The pharmacy will only need to update your ID number.

Prescription prior authorization approvals: If you have a prior authorization approval on file on Jan. 1, 2023, it will automatically carry over to the new coverage. No action is needed.

Mail order: Any existing mail order prescriptions will carry over to the new carrier. No action needed.

Specialty pharmacy: All specialty pharmacy prescriptions on file on Jan. 1, 2023, will carry over to CVS Caremark.
