Cory Tonnsen: An OFRR success story

It’s been almost two years since Cory Tonnsen moved to West Lafayette with his wife, Bridgette, when she joined Purdue as an assistant professor of psychological sciences.

Cory is a physical education instructor at Frontier Schools – and he maintains he wouldn’t have that position without the help of the Office of Faculty Recruitment and Retention.

“(The office) was certainly a factor when deciding to come to Purdue,” Tonnsen relates. “As a teacher, I needed to find a position to start in August, and we were planning to move to Indiana in late July. Knowing I had someone in West Lafayette looking for positions for me was a huge help as we transitioned to the area.”

From resume assistance to searching for positions and contacting prospective employers, the Office supported Cory throughout his job search.

“They also stayed in touch throughout the year to make sure things are still going well,” Tonnsen says. “I rave about this program any chance I get, and I feel it is a huge asset to the Purdue community.
