Employee Self Service: More than just pay statements

Many employees may have heard the term Employee Self Service (ESS) and are using ESS to view their pay statements online, but everyone may not be as familiar with the other services available within ESS.

Employee Self Service is a convenient, secure, and user-friendly resource accessed online through the OnePurdue portal. It not only enables University faculty and staff � including student employees � to see their individual records, but also provides them with tools to control their personal information. To access ESS, you simply need a career account. To log into ESS, go to the OnePurdue home page and click on the �OnePurdue Portal Login� link on the right-hand side of the page.

Some of the functions that employees can do in ESS are as follows:

  • Update personal data (name, date of birth, etc.)
  • Update self-identification information (ethnicity, race, and military, veteran, and disability status)
  • Update home address and phone number
  • Update bank information
  • Update education information
  • Display and suppress directory information
  • View salary statements

Prior to OnePurdue, staff could only have their pay sent to one banking institution. Now through ESS, employees can divide their earnings among four institutions. Also, accessing ESS online to update personal information ensures that the data is entered more quickly and accurately.
