Volunteers sought to pilot supervisory training course

Work experiences, hardship, opportunity, education, role models, and mentors all work together to craft a leader. Many managers and supervisors here at Purdue provide leadership to our peers as a result of work experiences both at Purdue and in other work environments.

Supervisors are leaders. Colleagues look to us for professional development and to bring a degree of order and consistency through the establishment of structures and systems to obtain results.

Human Resource Services is developing a 90-minute session entitled �Managing Beyond the Law.� The course provides the opportunity for supervisors to reflect on their personal leadership strengths and the impact of their leadership on the workforce. Additionally, the course will provide an orientation to Purdue�s human resources policies and practices, which are designed to provide supervisors the tools to support our dynamic workforce.

We are seeking 20 volunteers to participate in each of two pilot courses. The pilot sessions will take place from 10 a.m.-noon on Wednesday, April 2 and from 1:30-3:30 p.m on Tuesday, April 8. At the end of the pilot session, we will solicit feedback on how to improve �Managing Beyond the Law.� If you are interested in participating in one of the pilot sessions, please register online.
