Length of time at CHL:
I have been with the CHL since January of 2015. Before this experience, I worked at St Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette as a medical social worker in both the psychiatric unit and the physical rehabilitation unit. I also have an extensive background in inpatient psychiatry as a registered nurse.

Why do you like working at the CHL?
I enjoy the diversity of my clientele and the challenge of teaching them how to improve their lives through change.

Philosophy of care:
My focus is the individuality and uniqueness of the client(s) and how their life experiences influence their approach to life. My challenge is to understand their uniqueness and help them problem solve, make changes and bring out their best, resulting in a more fulfilling and joyful life. Treatment is based on evidenced-based models that are adapted to the specific needs of the client(s).

What do you like to do when you’re not at the CHL?
When I’m not helping people at the CHL, I love spending time with family – including two married sons and their lovely wives, along with three young grandchildren. I also enjoy time with our extended families. My husband and I enjoy traveling, bike riding, socializing with dear friends, time with our two dogs and musical theater. Individually, I love to ride horses, own two and compete in the dressage discipline April through November. I also am a voracious reader and love different genres including nonfiction and fiction. I also love fashion and dream of designing clothes in the future.

Fun fact about me:
I love Dancing with the Stars; my husband taught me ballroom dancing basics when we were dating, and I have enjoyed my time on the dance floor with him over the years (41 years married)!
