Supplement Your Benefit Needs with Voluntary Options
Purdue offers you the opportunity to select several voluntary benefits. These employee-paid options are designed to help you and your family through difficulties, including legal issues, an accident, critical illness or a death in the family. As you prepare for open enrollment consider how these plans may be advantageous for you.
There are a few things to keep in mind:
- These voluntary benefits complement your core benefits from Purdue (medical, dental, life/accident, etc.)—they are meant to supplement them, not replace them. The plans highlighted in this email may give you extra peace of mind that if an unexpected situation occurs, you will have some additional financial protection. The plans are offered at very competitive rates and can work in conjunction with your medical and savings plans.
- The voluntary plans give you the convenience and ease of paying for most of them via payroll deduction.
- Critical illness, accident and supplemental hospital insurance are provided by Voya in 2021. Overall, premiums for these plans are lower and coverage is similar to what is currently offered through MetLife.
- The Wellness Benefit with Critical Illness will pay $50 for completing your annual physical. This would be in addition to the funds Purdue will provide as part of the Healthy Boiler Incentive.
- Your current coverage in the MetLife accident, critical illness or supplemental hospital plans will not roll over. If you want coverage in 2021, you must re-elect them.
