Graduation Rates

Four, five, and six-year graduation rates are tracked for all¬†Horizons participants. These rates are tracked for the dual purpose of reporting to the Department of Education and as a determination of Horizons’ success. Data is collected on a cohort year basis and is compared to the general student population at Purdue. Typically, Horizons’ students begin college with averaged SAT scores 200 points lower than the average Purdue student. Data on graduation rates is collected through the Office of the Registrar.

Persistence Rates

The number of students who return for their second, third, and fourth years is measure of persistance and another way to guage the success of Horizons. The presistence rates of Horizons students is collected by cohort year and compared to the general student population at Purdue. Data on persistence rates is collected through the Office of the Registrar.

Grade Point Averages

Cumulative GPAa are collected at the end of each semester. Although GPA can indicate a measure of student success they are very sensitive to the student’s major, the year the student is in, and high school preparation for college.
