Visitors will find rooms with a view at the Purdue University’s annual Garden Day, Saturday, July 10. This annual open-house event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Horticulture Building and Gardens on the West Lafayette campus.

\nThe festivities include guided tours of the ornamental gardens, a gardening information booth, and gardening lectures presented by experts from Purdue and beyond. Morning tours of the Horticulture Greenhouses also will be offered.
\n
\nThis year’s ornamental garden has been “remodeled” into separate rooms, filled to the brim with annual bedding plants and vines. These rooms offer home gardeners ideas that can be adapted to their backyard, no matter how small. In addition to the annual displays, hundreds of perennials, including more than 40 cultivars of hosta and daylilies, will be in their prime.

\nThe gardening lectures will cover summer bulbs by Jo Ellen Meyers Sharp, author of Indiana Gardener’s Guide; organic gardening by Rosie Lerner, Purdue consumer horticulturist; and managing yard waste from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, will be held in air-conditioned comfort.

\nPurdue Extension consumer horticulture staff and the Tippecanoe County Master Gardeners will be on hand to help answer gardening questions. Master Gardeners are volunteers of the Purdue Extension Service.

\nAll Purdue Garden Day events are free and open to the public. The Purdue Horticulture Gardens are located adjacent to the Horticulture Building at intersection of Wood and Marsteller streets, north of the Veterinary School on the West Lafayette campus.
