Job Summary
The Farm Operations Manager is responsible for coordinating and leading Farm Staff; compiling records on the crops; procuring quality land; creating schedules for planting, irrigation, spraying and fertilizer schedules, equipment readiness and harvesting; directing harvest operations and conducting off-season activities.

Responsibilities and Duties / Essential Functions
1. Direct and coordinate the overall operations of the farms.
2. Lead and manage a team of regular and seasonal employees which includes staffing, performance management, training and coaching in a harmonious work environment, while maximizing employee morale and productivity.
3. Manage overall operations of the farms, including farm development, irrigation, application/pest management, pruning, training and harvesting.
4. Establish goals, direction and vision while strategically planning all projects.
5. Identify equipment improvements, changes and/or replacements.
6. Budget and manage farm to ensure efficient/profitable operations and ongoing fiscal responsibilities.
7. Must be available to work weekends during the months of September and October

Education, Skills & Knowledge Qualifications
• MINIMUM of 3-4 year’s of production agriculture and management experience is REQUIRED
• Relevant fruit growing or vineyard experience required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture or other agricultural related field strongly preferred
• Working knowledge and experience with Word and Excel
• Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean record
• Be able to communicate English; Spanish speaking would be a plus
• Strong leadership and decision-making skills
• Proven ability to effectively build and manage a team-oriented culture
• Experience record keeping
• Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communications skills
• Ability to plan ahead and to look at the whole picture

Blake Farms is a family owned and operated farm that has been in business and serving the local and regional community since 1946. Since Blake Farms humble beginnings, it has grown into one of the country’s largest cider mills pressing over 400,000 gallons of cider a year and having visitors each in excess of 600,000 come and see the working farm. Aside from a large farming operation that farms a variety of fruit, vegetable and cash crops, Blake Farms has diversified its business to offer a winery and hard cider company, which has quickly become one of the largest in the Midwest.
