DESCRIPTION:A full day of learning and exploration awaits at Garwood Orchar
 ds on Thursday\, July 9\, in LaPorte\, Indiana. Known as one of the top f
 ruit and vegetable operations in the Midwest\, Garwood Orchards offers a u
 nique opportunity to see large-scale production paired with intensive\, de
 tail-oriented management.\n\n\nThe farm produces approximately 350 acres o
 f vegetables and 250 acres of fruit\, with a strong focus on innovation\, 
 including new cultivars\, production practices and technology. U-pick and 
 farm market operations are also key components of their business.\n\nParti
 cipants will tour tree fruit\, small fruit and vegetable production system
 s\, while also gaining insight into farm marketing and operations. Whether
  your interests include specialty crops\, production practices or direct-t
 o-consumer marketing\, there will be plenty to see and learn.\n\nThe field
  day is free and open to all\, and students are encouraged to attend.\n\n
