Southwest Purdue Agriculture Center hosted Pumpkin Field Day on Sep. 17, 2025. HLA Extension specialists Liz Maynard, Steve Meyers and Wenjing Guan; HLA graduate student Helen Angelina Nocito; and Extension specialists Laura Ingwell from Entomology Department and Cesar Escalante from Botany and Plant Pathology Department presented at the event.
Peter Hirst led the Indiana Horticulture Society Field Day that was generously hosted by Chandler’s Orchard in Fillmore, IN. We toured their apple, strawberry and vegetable operations. Miranda Purcell, Steve Meyers and Wenjing Guan were in attendance as well as members of the Meyers lab & Hoagland lab.
“Tomato Seedling Performance in Five Commercial Organic Growing Media with and without Supplemental Fertilizer” co-authored by Liz Maynard, Wenjing Guan, Petrus Langenhoven and Lori Hoagland was published in HortTechnology on June 18.
In collaboration with The Ohio State University, a team of Extension specialists and educators hosted the Tri-State High Tunnel School on March 14, 2025. In Indiana, the event was held at two locations—Wayne and Elkhart Counties. Wenjing Guan and Liz Maynard participated in the event.

The Southern Indiana Melon and Vegetable Growers’ Annual Meeting in conjunction with Illiana Watermelon Association Convention was held on January 17th in French Lick, Indiana.
