Southwest Purdue Ag Center Field Day was held on June 28. HLA graduate students Jeanine Arana, Emmanuel Cooper, Emerson Luna, and Extension specialists Petrus Langenhoven and Wenjing Guan presented at the field day. We had 40-50 attendance participate in the Horticulture Tour.
Petrus Langenhoven and visiting scholar Dennis Gustavo Toc Mo presented a Soil Health and Pepper Production research update at the Southwest Purdue Agricultural Center on June 28, 2023. We discussed the impact of soil management practices on soil health and talked about what we have learned so far in the ongoing 4-year USDA-funded Soil to Market grant.
Dr. Petrus Langenhoven is now the sole Director of the Purdue Student Farm. After much consideration, Dr. Steve Hallett decided to shift his attention to other academic activities. Liz Maynard, Becca Koetz (Purdue Extension Lake County), Petrus Langenhoven, and Ashley Adair were awarded a grant from the Mary S. Rice Foundation titled “Equipment for Small Acreage and Urban Vegetable Farms.” The grant will fund purchase of equipment for use at the Pinney Purdue Agricultural Center in intensively managed production systems.
