Peter Hirst hosted 7 classes of 3rd graders from West Lafayette Elementary School at the Meigs farm. As well as learning about apples, the kids learned about genetics, mitosis, math, health, and nutrition. Thanks to Chloe Richard, Paul Howard and Jay Young at Meigs for their able assistance.

On Saturday, the department hosted 225 youth participants from across Indiana for the 4-H/FFA State Horticulture Career Development Event. On Saturday, August 13th, Vicki Stirm will be doing an outreach for HLA with high school students from the Center for Leadership Development and Soul Food Project Indy. The Center for Leadership Development is a part of the Indianapolis Youth Development Program. The outreach will involve plant science activities.
