Liz Maynard, Becca Koetz (Purdue Extension Lake County), Petrus Langenhoven, and Ashley Adair were awarded a grant from the Mary S. Rice Foundation titled “Equipment for Small Acreage and Urban Vegetable Farms.” The grant will fund purchase of equipment for use at the Pinney Purdue Agricultural Center in intensively managed production systems.




Liz Maynard is co-PI on a newly funded AgSEED project led by Dan Quinn (AGRY) titled “improving Crop Establishment in Cover Crops Systems through Examination of Modern Planter Technologies.” This project will continue work on no-till planting of sweet corn into killed winter rye cover crop.


The 2023 Indiana Horticultural Conference and Expo was held January 23 and 24 at the Beck Agricultural Center in West Lafayette. The Conference consisted of educational tracks in fresh vegetables, apples, small fruits, farming basics, food safety, and business & marketing.
