Ashley Adair and northeast Indiana ANR Educators hosted the NE IN Organic Field Day at Northeast Purdue Ag Center. The event attracted 32 participants and featured equipment demonstrations, knowledge-building for beginner organic grain growers, an update on disease management in organic grain, and an introduction to Purdue organic field research funded by OREI.


The Purdue Fruit and Vegetable Field Day, held on June 20 at Meigs Farm, was a success. Ashley Adair, Lori Hoagland, and Liz Maynard traveled with Indiana Urban Soil Health and NRCS staff to Frith Farm in Scarborough, ME last week. Liz Maynard, Becca Koetz (Purdue Extension Lake County), Petrus Langenhoven, and Ashley Adair were awarded a grant from the Mary S. Rice Foundation titled “Equipment for Small Acreage and Urban Vegetable Farms.” The grant will fund purchase of equipment for use at the Pinney Purdue Agricultural Center in intensively managed production systems.




Ashley Adair and White County ANR Educator Andrew Westfall hosted the Indiana Organic Grain Farmer Meeting on 2/22 at the Beck Center. The event drew 60 participants from across the eastern corn belt in its first in-person meeting since 2020. We look forward to growing this event in 2024!




Ashley Adair presented “Organic Gardening and Composting” for the Wabash County Extension Hot Topics Series on January 19, 2023. Extension educators Geoff Schortgen, Courtney Schmidt, and Krista Pullen have done a great job promoting this series. Over 100 participants joined the Zoom call with lots of great discussion.
