The College of Health and Human Sciences (HHS) is home to the Departments of Health and Kinesiology; Human Development and Family Studies; Nutrition Science; Psychological Sciences; Public Health; and Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences; and home to the Schools of Health Sciences; Hospitality and Tourism Management (with a Division of Consumer Science); and Nursing.

HHS brings together scholars in the human sciences and health sciences to strategically address issues vital to enhancing quality of life. Our multidisciplinary learning environment uniquely prepares students to contribute to improved human health and behavior and to one day serve as leaders in their disciplines. It also provides a rich environment for idea sharing and discovery. Purdue’s land-grant mission facilitates the translation of these discoveries from theory to application, benefiting not only those in Indiana but society as a whole.

Throughout our nine academic units, we take a comprehensive approach to tackling the most pressing issues encountered across the life span. We are focused on and dedicated to improving the lives of people through academic programs and research dedicated to informing people’s behavioral choices, improving their health, and enhancing their quality of life.

The HHS mission and vision are closely related to Purdue University’s plan to enhance student access and success (e.g., by attracting increasingly talented and diverse undergraduate and graduate students), to promote discovery with delivery (e.g., by facilitating synergistic research), and to address global challenges (e.g., by increasing engagement with strategic partners both nationally and internationally).
