Course Description

The Robert L. Ringel Research Symposium at Purdue University is an event showcasing high-quality student research. Utilizing poster presentations, a wide range of topics across the field of communication sciences and disorders are presented. Evidence-based practice to maximize patient outcomes is examined. Participants will learn to apply research findings to guide clinical decision-making in both speech-language pathology, as well as audiology.

Call for Posters: 2022 Ringel Symposium Poster Presentations

We are delighted to share that the 2022 Ringel Symposium will be returning to its original in-person format. In addition to MS-SLP EBP and AuD Capstone project presentations, the Ringel Symposium will include research poster presentations from thesis students, undergraduate students, labs, etc. Studies that have been previously presented at other professional meetings can be submitted.

Submission Deadline: 

Friday, 1/21/2022: Deadline to submit presentation information (ALL participants)  

  • E-mail submission to SLHSAdmin@purdue.edu ("Poster Submission" in the subject line). In your e-mail, include:
    • Title
    • Author(s) and affiliation
    • Short abstract (70 words)
    • Three learning outcomes to meet ASHA CEU requirements. The learner outcomes should describe what participants will be able to do after attending your poster presentation. Outcomes must be stated in measurable and observable terms. Verbs referring to mental states, such as “know”, “understand”, and “appreciate” are not acceptable. Action verbs such as “identify”, “explain”, or “describe” are acceptable (https://www.asha.org/ce/for-providers/Learner_outcomes/)
    • Disclosures statement (financial and non-financial)

**EBP & AuD Capstone students have additional deadlines regarding finalizing poster, LOs, abstracts prior to the final submission on 1/21/22 (above). This has been communicated with those students directly.
