Natalya Kaganovich

Director - Natalya Kaganovich, Ph.D.

Dr. Kaganovich received her MA and Ph.D. degrees from Purdue University. She uses behavioral and electrophysiological measures in order to understand the role of audiovisual integration in language acquisition and language processing. She works with both typically developing children and children with Developmental Language Disorder. Dr. Kaganovich's research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health (National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders).

Jen Schumaker

Jennifer Schumaker - Research Associate

Jen Schumaker is a graduate of Purdue University in Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, and Population Genetics. She has been working as a research associate in the SLHS Department since August of 2010. Her interests include working on studies that use electrophysiological measures to understand language acquisition and development in children. In her free time, she enjoys running, collecting board games, and playing with her dogs. She also serves as Secretary of the Wolf Park Board of Directors. 

Aditi Gargeshwari

Aditi Gargeshwari - Ph.D. Student

Aditi Gargeshwari is currently a fourth-year Ph.D. student with an interest in auditory pitch processing in the human subcortex and cortex in normal-hearing and hearing-impaired individuals. She received her Master’s in Audiology from India, and following that, she worked as a Clinical Audiologist for one year before coming to Purdue University. In her free time, she likes to go on trails, watch tv, play board games, and occasionally sketch.

Teanna Pounds

Teanna Pounds - Master's Student

Teanna Pounds is a graduate student in the Speech-Language Pathology program. She is from Muncie, IN, and attended Purdue for her undergraduate degree. After graduation, she hopes to be a Medical SLP working in pediatrics. In her free time, she likes to sing, bake, and watch shows on Netflix.

Emma Gausman

Emma Gausman - Undergraduate Student

Emma Gausman is an undergraduate student at Purdue University studying Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, and Psychological Sciences. She is from a small town called Batesville, Indiana. After completing her undergraduate studies, Emma plans on continuing her education and earning a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Outside of her studies, she enjoys baking, running, spending time outside, and hanging out with the important people in her life.

Veda Gourlay

Veda Gourlay - Undergraduate Student

Veda Gourlay is an undergraduate student studying Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, and Human Development and Family Studies. After graduation, Veda plans on attending graduate school to pursue a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. She enjoys staying active and spending time with family and friends.

Sami Isom

Sami Isom - Undergraduate Student

Sami Isom is a junior in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences. She is from West Lafayette, Indiana. Her hobbies include being outdoors, playing with her dog, and hanging out with her friends. She is also a member of the Ann Tweedale Cooperative House.

Ana Ragheb

Ana Ragheb - Undergraduate Student

Ana Ragheb is an undergraduate student in Purdue's Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences program. After completing her BS degree, she plans to pursue a graduate degree in either Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology. She enjoys working with children, and some of her hobbies include baking, doing crafts, and learning new languages.

Abbie Schickling

Abbie Schickling - Undergraduate Student

Abbie Schickling is a junior studying Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences with a minor in Psychology. She is from Noblesville, Indiana, and is hoping to attend graduate school at Purdue University for a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. In her free time, she enjoys reading, learning about plants, and painting!

Kelsey Smart

Kelsey Smart - Undergraduate Student

Kelsey Smart is an undergraduate student at Purdue University majoring in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, and Sociology. She loves working with children and has worked as a babysitter, nanny, and tutor for years. Kelsey plans on attending graduate school after graduation to pursue a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. In her free time, Kelsey loves to spend time with her friends and family! 

Carrie Tornquist

Carrie Tornquist - Undergraduate Student

Carrie Tornquist is an undergraduate Purdue student studying Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and Spanish. She is from South Bend, IN. Once Carrie graduates, she plans to continue her education and pursue a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outside, watching TV shows, and crafting.
